It has been overdue for this new Perodua Alza 2022 vehicle.
Due to its ability to build compact family vehicles in three segments without competition from Japan or Korea, Perodua is the most popular automaker in Malaysia. This Malaysian-owned auto brand is a joint venture with Perodua Manufacturing, a Malaysian conglomerate, and Daihatsu Motor of Japan (which, incidentally, was purchased by the Toyota Motor business some years ago).
When Proton began to experience engineering problems and Datsun (like Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, and Subaru) was unable to compete on price (Perodua and Proton continued to benefit from significant tax incentives), the demand reached a tipping point that “forced” the disappearance of compact vehicles for sale from all other car manufacturers in Malaysia.
Therefore, Perodua sales statistics were quite good as there was no competition (Proton quality difficulties). The Alza, a small 7-seat vehicle, was one of the best selling models. The Alza was an immediate and ongoing sales hit, even today, with just the Nissan Livina (which costs 40% more owing to import tariffs).
When ride-hailing services were made available in Malaysia, the Alza gained even more popularity as many owners used the spacious baggage space (as a result of the third row seats being folded down) as an airport transportation vehicle.
In November 2009, the original and current Alza made its debut, with prices ranging from RM 55,490 to RM 64,190. The 1.5L engine in the Alza produced 104 horsepower and 136 Nm of torque from a vehicle that weighed only 1,150 kg. It had an interior and exterior redesign in January 2014. Then, despite its advanced age, another makeover appeared in September 2018. More than 370,000 Alza units have been distributed to Malaysians around the nation as of today.
For this reason, a brand-new Alza will be available in all showrooms in 2023. This most recent Alza will be a modified version of the Daihatsu Xenia, which is currently doing well in Indonesia, thanks to the company’s ongoing cooperation with Daihatsu. Riding on a new, larger-than-the-outgoing Alza global platform called DNGA. It will measure 4,395 mm long, 1,730 mm wide, and 1,700 mm tall.
The two new color options that will be available are one of the intriguing details of the brand-new Alza that have been making the rounds on social media. Elegant Black, Garnet Red, and Vintage Brown. The colors Ivory White and Glittering Silver will still be available.
